I did it

My cousins little boy went through a time when he would do something and then look at every one, throw his hands in the air and go "I did it." It was super cute!

.

Well I had an I did it moment tonight. I have wanted a build a fire since I moved in to my new house but did not feel confident about it so last winter my fireplaces went unused. I had a friend coming over to help me because again I did not feel confident and of course thought I needed a man to help me. Well said friend could not come over so I said "Self you can do this" I went and got my wood in a box (this is not right, my daddy never bought wood in a box) I will fix that soon. I put it in the fire fliped the leaver that I thought controlled the floo and lit the bag the wood came in ( again this is not right). Before I know it the smoke alarms are going wild. So I flip the leaver back thinking I messed it up, nope still going off. So I run go get some water I have to get this fire out and and this smoke out of my house. Well 20 minutes later of loud alarms and freezing with my doors and windows open the noise stopped. But I was still cold!! I pout for a while, thinking I am a smart women I can do this! I get a flashlight and crawl all over that fire place and hidden right in the front of my fireplace was another leaver and guess what the hole in my fire place opened! I called my dad and he reccomended I set some paper on fire to make sure the smoke goes up instead of out. IT did and now I present
My very first fire.
The next step is finding some real wood. My grandfather loved building fires and having them going all the time. He would be so dissapointed at my little log in the bag. Dont worry Grandpa, real wood is coming.

2011

2011 is here! 2010 was a very bad year for blogging, I think bad is an understatement when you only blog 3 times in a whole year. So I think I will try again. I think like all bloggers I want to say, who really cares about my little life, but here goes.

So I spent my day today sleeping till noon, I am kind of happy that I am 31 and can still sleep till noon. I have the best trained dog in the world to pull that off. Don't get me wrong on want kids but really can you sleep till noon with kids?!?! I will take that as a perk of this crazy single life. Don't worry when lining up perks and non perks ( i need a better word) there are a lot more non perks so I have to find them where I can.

Oh yea I woke up and made a grocery list. I will be hitting diet again hard! Even though I have not had much of an appetite here lately that seems to happen when a new boy comes on the scene ( ha ha that is all of that for the blogging world for now). So I went to WalMart, it was horrible at one point I wanted to sit in the middle of the store with my very full buggy and rock back and forth. Walmart makes me crazy! I got home with enough food for a small village all healthy!! I am smelling a yummy roast in the crock pot right now.

Then I made my new years wreath. I was asked if I was going to have a wreath for every occasion and i think that could be fun. Angela says I must have one for MLK day, don't worry I will not disappoint. But for now here is my super cute( I think so anyway) 2011 wreath. I got the idea from the fabulous http://tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/
I love this site!!
This was my first experince with burlap, get ready for a mess, but it is soo worth it!!
Well I will be back! Soon dont worry Linz!!

King Cake!!

I made my first homemade King Cake! It was so yummy. I was excited about actually having to Kneed the dough! I felt this is a big step up from my normal cooking. I ended up making 4 over the season. The first one was very traditional. Then for the Super Bowl, I made a Who Dat King Cake(I need to find the pics of the Who Dat cake) and these were cream cheese filled! They was soo good I can not wait till next Mardi Gras Season to make some more. I also got to use my new Kitchen Aide mixer which was by far my favorite Christmas present.Sorry my pics are all messed up. I need some tutoring on adding pics to my blog.

Crab Cakes

I think I wrote about these last time but I now have a picture. I love these things! Only 3 points a peice if you make them big, but I make them small(6) so I get 2 for 3 points. I have to add a little more dijionasse next time so they will hold together, but they were yummy! I have sent this recipie to everyone I know. Hungry Girl got it right with this recipie!

Chili Mac

This is chili Mac, it is a weight watcher recipe. It is pretty good, it is a great way to get whole grains, protien and a veggie. Only 5 points for a whole cup. I can not say it is my fave but it is not bad. Now I need to freeze some though, I am kinda sick of it already. This is a thing about being single. Left overs and I am not a fan of left over. OH well!!!

Sunday is Cooking Day!

I have been looking forward to today all week. First I was back at The Village for the first time in a month. I have missed that place! Second I had the whole afternoon to cook and clean. I tried two new recipes tonight. The first one a pulled BBQ chicken in the crock pot. I got to use my new red Crock pot Santa brought me. I made a Weight Watchers BBQ sauce to cook the chicken in. It smells wonderful. The second recipe I made was the Hungry Girl version of Southweastern Eggrolls from Chillies. Let's just say I don't thing Hungry Girl has every been to Chillis because these were not so great. I think maybe if I made up the filling and let it sit and he seasons could marry a little bit that would help. I also think it needs more cheese (surprise!) So I think next time I will put some Laughing Cow cheese in there, and add a point. Ok next on my list learn how to put pics on my blog. I will work on that this week. Goodnight Blog world!!

2010

Ok So not that anyone is reading this, but I think I am going to give it another try. My goal is to eat better and work out more this year. Well actually that has been my goal for a while now, but now I am throwing cooking in there too. My cousins are trying 50 new recipes this year. I figure I can do that. So I started tonight, the trick is mine must be Hungry Girl or Weight Watchers Approved. So Hungry Girl had a great recipe for crab cakes. They were pretty good. I think I will had a little more seasoning next time and maybe cook them in a pan instead of the oven but other then that they were great and only 3 points a piece. So recipe number one was a success.

I think maybe taking my Christmas tree down tonight may be in order as well. This will not be too hard seeing I did not put any decorations or lights on it.

I am really going to try to keep this up this time!
